On Friday, 27 December 2013, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kaunas, on Europos pr. near No. 14, a Volkswagen Passat hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 82-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by a 82-year-old pedestrian, who committed sudden emergence from behind a vehicle, tree, etc. and was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
