On Wednesday, 15 January 2014, in the evening at 17:39, in Ukmergės district municipality, Jačionių village, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 63.40), a Skoda Octavia hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 54-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by a 54-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway where prohibited, was walking on a motorway, was crossing the carriageway outside a crossing where there are vehicle or pedestrian barriers and was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
