On Wednesday, 15 January 2014, in the evening at around 18:00, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius–Lyda main road (kilometre 11), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Space Runner and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (6 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules, failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
