On Tuesday, 21 January 2014, in the morning at 9:20, in Plungės district municipality, on J. Tumo-Vaižganto street near No. 81, a Volkswagen Golf hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 77-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 62-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (26 years of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings and failed to fulfil pedestrian duties.
