On Friday, 7 February 2014, at night at 1:47, in Raseinių district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 145.90), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz, a Samro, a MAN TGA 18.460, a Schmitz SKO 24, a Schmitz and an Iveco LD440E42. One person died — the 51-year-old driver of the Iveco. Three people were injured — a 14-year-old passenger of the Iveco (hospitalized), the 56-year-old driver of the MAN (hospitalized) and a 56-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 57-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
