On Saturday, 8 February 2014, at night at 1:34, in Varėnos district municipality, Merkinės town, on Seinų street, a Skoda Octavia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Skoda (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (1.01‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene.
