On Sunday, 27 July 2014, at night at 3:35, in Varėnos district municipality, Merkinės town, on Seinų street near No. 2, a BMW 528 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the BMW (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.53‰ blood alcohol).
