On Sunday, 16 February 2014, in the morning at 8:37, in Lazdijų district municipality, Šventežerio town, on the Alytus–Seirijai–Lazdijai national road (kilometre 35.21), a Volkswagen Passat hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
