On Wednesday, 19 February 2014, in the afternoon at 13:40, in Tauragės district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 134.05), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Scania R 124 LA and an Iveco 440E35. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Scania (20 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
