On Thursday, 17 April 2014, in the morning at 6:30, in Kaunas, on Biržiškų street near No. 9, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Rover 420 and a Volvo V70. Two people were injured — the 56-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient) and a 18-year-old passenger of the Rover (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Rover (less than a year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (1.07‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
