On Sunday, 27 April 2014, in the afternoon at 11:08, in Plungės district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 45.75), a Volkswagen Passat rolled over. Two people died — the 30-year-old driver of the Volkswagen and a 23-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (11 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
