On Monday, 5 May 2014, in the evening at 17:02, in Kauno district municipality, on Vytauto street near No. 105A, an Audi 100 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 81-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 61-year-old driver of the Audi (20 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
