On Thursday, 22 May 2014, in the afternoon at 14:15, in Panevėžio district municipality, Paįstrio village, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 13.70), in a roadworks zone, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT XF105.460, a Mercedes-Benz 212, a Volvo V70, a Tauras 3513 and a MAN 32.364. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Latvia) (34 years of driving experience), who was taken ill at the wheel and failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
