On Monday, 26 May 2014, at night at around 23:00, in Pagėgių municipality, Stoniškių village, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 157), at a railway crossing, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Nissan Almera and a vehicle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Nissan, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.79‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
