On Saturday, 14 June 2014, in the morning at 9:10, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Pilaitė–Čekoniškės–Sudervė regional road (kilometre 6.94), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Audi A4 and a Fiat Punto. Two people died — a 86-year-old passenger of the Audi and a 75-year-old passenger of the Audi (later died from the injuries). Three people were injured — the 47-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient), a 16-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized) and the 48-year-old driver of the Fiat (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Audi (26 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
