On Friday, 8 August 2014, in the evening at 22:22, in Vilnius, on Baltupio street near No. 175, at the junction with Mokslininkų street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Ford Galaxy and a Toyota Avensis. Two people were injured — a 32-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient) and the 29-year-old driver of the Toyota (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Ford (15 years of driving experience), who failed to obey traffic-control signals. He was drunk (1.64‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
