On Thursday, 14 August 2014, in the afternoon at 16:53, in Trakų district municipality, on the Trakai–Rūdiškės–Pivašiūnai–Alytus national road (kilometre 20.11), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a Skoda Superb and a BMW 535. Five people were injured — the 26-year-old driver of the Skoda (hospitalized), a 25-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized), a 53-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized), the 30-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized) and a 24-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Skoda (1 year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
