On Thursday, 28 August 2014, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Kalvarijos municipality, on the Marijampolė–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 12.39), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat and a Manitou MLT 741-120 LSU. Two people were injured — the 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and a 17-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (4 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
