On Friday, 12 September 2014, at night at 23:20, in Klaipėda, on Taikos pr., at the junction with Sausio 15-osios street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz CLS350, an Opel Zafira and a Mercedes-Benz 250. Two people were injured — a 54-year-old passenger of the Opel (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 51-year-old passenger of the Opel (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz CLS350 (17 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
