On Sunday, 16 November 2014, in the morning at around 5:00, in Zarasų district municipality, Butkelių village, a Volkswagen Passat rolled over. One person was injured — a 18-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.67‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
