On Monday, 22 December 2014, in the evening at 17:20, in Prienų district municipality, on Vytauto street near No. 11A, at the junction with F. Martišiaus street, a Toyota Aygo hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 14-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 15-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Toyota (16 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
