On Saturday, 17 January 2015, at night at 23:35, in Plungės district municipality, on the Plungė–Vėžaičiai national road (kilometre 15.20), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel Astra-G-Caravan and an Opel Astra. Four people were injured — the 34-year-old driver of the Opel Astra-G-Caravan (treated as an outpatient), a 24-year-old passenger of the Opel Astra-G-Caravan (treated as an outpatient), a 57-year-old passenger of the Opel Astra-G-Caravan (treated as an outpatient) and a 27-year-old passenger of the Opel Astra-G-Caravan (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Opel Astra-G-Caravan (6 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The 31-year-old driver of the Opel Astra was drunk (0.86‰) and had no driving licence. A 40-year-old passenger of the Opel Astra was drunk (2.73‰). The Opel Astra had recorded faults (šviesos prietaisų). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
