On Thursday, 7 May 2015, in the evening at 18:39, in Kaunas, on Veiverių street, at the junction with S. Dariaus ir S. Girėno street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Dodge Stratus and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Two people were injured — a 17-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient) and a 62-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Dodge (16 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (1.73‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
