On Saturday, 16 January 2016, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Kaunas, on Veiverių street, at the junction with S. Dariaus ir S. Girėno street, a collision while turning right occurred. The collision involved an Opel Insignia Sports Tourer SW, a Smart Fortwo Coupe and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Opel (21 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
