On Sunday, 17 May 2015, in the afternoon at 11:30, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 105.22), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a BMW 3ER Reihe and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 311 CDI. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the BMW (7 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to give way when changing direction.
