On Wednesday, 10 June 2015, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Kaunas, on Taikos pr., at the junction with Garažų street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a BMW 318 and a Volkswagen Golf. One person was injured — the 76-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the BMW (16 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
