On Thursday, 3 September 2015, in the evening at 17:21, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius–Šumskas national road (kilometre 12.50), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a GAZ 66 and an Audi 80 Avant. Three people were injured — a 37-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient), a 23-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient) and the 33-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the GAZ, who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (2.80‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
