On Friday, 6 November 2015, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kėdainių district municipality, Pėdžių village, on the Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai main road (kilometre 64.94), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 530 D, a Saab 9-3 and a Volkswagen Multivan registered in Latvia. One person died — the 27-year-old driver of the BMW. Two people were injured — the 33-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized) and a 33-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the BMW (9 years of driving experience), who exceeded the speed set by traffic rules or road signs, committed other traffic rule violations, failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
