On Wednesday, 11 November 2015, in the evening at 21:10, in Mažeikių district municipality, on Žemaitijos street near No. 3, a Renault Megane Scenic hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 66-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 61-year-old driver of the Renault (41 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober.
