On Thursday, 30 January 2020, in the evening at 20:17, in Mažeikių district municipality, on Žemaitijos street near No. 3, an Opel Meriva hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 17-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 17-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Opel (7 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober.
