On Friday, 13 November 2015, in the afternoon at 13:24, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 16.92), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volvo F10, a Volkswagen Passat, a Toyota Corolla, a Volkswagen Transporter, a Mercedes-Benz E220, a Volkswagen Passat and a Volkswagen Passat. One person died — the 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Transporter (later died from the injuries, was not wearing a seatbelt). Three people were injured — the 20-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient), a 35-year-old passenger of the Volvo (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and the 41-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
