On Friday, 1 January 2016, in the afternoon at 15:45, in Kaunas, on Kuršių street near No. 7, at the junction with Žemaičių pl., a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW X5 3.0D and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the BMW (10 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
