On Sunday, 14 February 2016, in the afternoon at 13:40, in Klaipėda, on Mechanizacijos street, at the junction with Griežupės street, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Alfa Romeo 146, an Opel Vectra, a Volkswagen Passat and a Volkswagen Jetta registered in Ukraine. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Alfa Romeo (16 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
