On Friday, 11 March 2016, in the evening at 20:40, in Kaunas, on Baltijos street near No. 5A, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Rover 420 and a Volkswagen Golf. One person was injured — the 21-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Rover (2 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
