On Saturday, 2 April 2016, at night at 23:30, in Kaunas, on Gaižiūnų street, at the junction with S. Raštikio street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Mazda 626 and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Mazda (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
