On Friday, 8 April 2016, at night at 23:33, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Kuršėnai–Mažeikiai national road (kilometre 5), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Nissan Primera, a Wiola - and a Renault Midlum 210. One person died — the 40-year-old driver of the Nissan. Two people were injured — the 32-year-old driver of the Renault (treated as an outpatient) and a 35-year-old passenger of the Renault (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Nissan (10 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and entered the oncoming traffic lane.
