On Saturday, 23 April 2016, in the afternoon at 15:23, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiaulių aplinkkelis main road (kilometre 2), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FM, a Kumlin ATU3-30 and a Volkswagen Polo. One person died — a 56-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (later died from the injuries). One person was injured — the 53-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Volvo (21 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
