On Saturday, 11 June 2016, in the evening at 18:15, in Kaunas, on Kalvarijos street near No. 44, at the junction with Alšėnų street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo 850 and a Volkswagen Golf. One person was injured — the 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Volvo (15 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry.
