On Wednesday, 10 August 2016, at night at 3:41, in Utenos district municipality, on J. Basanavičiaus street, at the junction with Sėlių street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and an Audi 80. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings, failed to give way when crossing an intersection and failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
