On Thursday, 1 September 2016, in the morning at around 10:00, in Skuodo district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Skuodas national road (kilometre 46.45), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Astra and a Mercedes-Benz ML 350 Bluetec 4MATIC. Three people were injured — the 47-year-old driver of the Opel (hospitalized), a 48-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (hospitalized) and a 23-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Opel, who committed other traffic rule violations. She had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
