On Thursday, 6 October 2016, in the evening at 22:15, in Kaunas, on Baltijos street, at the junction with Žiemgalių street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Opel Zafira and a Renault Megane. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 63-year-old driver of the Opel (36 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. The 41-year-old driver of the Renault had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
