On Sunday, 16 October 2016, in the evening at around 18:00, in Pakruojo district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Pakruojis–Pasvalys national road (kilometre 40.50), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 and an Audi A4. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Audi A6 (6 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules, failed to keep a safe distance, failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. The 25-year-old driver of the Audi A4 was drunk (1.91‰). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
