On Monday, 24 October 2016, in the afternoon at 16:14, in Šiauliai, on J. Basanavičiaus street, at the junction with Sodo street, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH12, a Humbaur BIG ONE and a Renault Megane Scenic. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Volvo (43 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet.
