On Thursday, 3 November 2016, in the morning at 5:30, in Šakių district municipality, Girėnų village, on the Pilviškiai–Šakiai–Jurbarkas national road (kilometre 30.92), a Peugeot 407 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Peugeot (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
