On Tuesday, 29 November 2016, in the evening at 21:26, in Kauno district municipality, Giraitės village, on Kaštonų street, at the junction with Topolių street, a BMW X5 3.0D hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of the BMW (21 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (1.66‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
