On Sunday, 11 December 2016, in the evening at around 22:00, in Kaunas, on Kiečių street near No. 78, at the junction with Mauručių street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Ford Mondeo and a Volkswagen Polo. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Ford, who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (1.41‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
