On Wednesday, 28 December 2016, in the evening at 19:12, in Šiauliai, on Tilžės street, at the junction with Pramonės street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a BMW 3ER Reihe and a Dodge Caliber. One person was injured — a 17-year-old passenger of the Dodge (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations, failed to give way when changing direction, failed to give way when crossing an intersection and failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
