On Saturday, 31 December 2016, in the evening at around 22:00, in Kaunas, on Parodos street near No. 10, a Volkswagen Golf ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.28‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
