On Monday, 2 January 2017, in the afternoon at 16:35, in Šilalės district municipality, Brokštėnų village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 231), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Skoda (10 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
