On Saturday, 7 January 2017, at night at around 2:00, in Klaipėda, on Žardininkų street near No. 8, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel Astra and a Citroen Xsara Picasso. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.46‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
